A council-wide project to collect food for the needy in December.  Our council will join hands with existing local food banks to accomplish this service project During the 1st Saturday in December.  Cubs earn a segment.  Nearly ¼ million pounds of food are collected and re-distributed by Scouts in our council each year.  The needy in our communities are counting on our Pack support.

Procedures

  • Call Council in early October to assure planning event at November’s round table.
  • Attend November Roundtable.
    • Get to know the council coordinator, and get his/her phone number to clarify future questions.
    • Pack/Den will be assigned an area to collect food.
    • Make copies of area maps for each Den in the Pack.
  • Make announcement for Scouting for Food activity during November’s Pack Meeting.
    • Pass out Den collection area maps to Den leaders.
  • Assemble at West TV School on the 1st Saturday of December to collect food door to door.
    • Take wagons to help the cubs collect the food door to door.
  • Deliver the food to the local food collection sites.  Usually a  local Tualatin Valley Fire Dept. Station.
